Hey all, just wanted to share my newest web presence.  I have joined ArtFire.  I am setting up my shop now.  If you would like to check it out, go to ArtFire.com.  I will be listing more items over the next few days, so check back often.  I am still listing on Etsy as well and you can check out my Etsy shop here.
I am still selling in person at the Eugene Saturday Market at 8th and Oak streets in downtown Eugene from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine.  Come on down and check out the beadwork for sale and see the market.  They have a lot of fun to offer every Saturday.  An International food court and live entertainment all day long.  Did I mention it is a maker is the seller market?  That means you can talk with the artist that made the items!  I like that, it makes for interesting conversation over the tables.  Hope to talk to you there!

Mermaid in Blue

Geposted am Monday 13 April 2009

Hi all!  Just wanted to share my latest creation with you.  She is called Mermaid in Blue.  She is a lovely little fantasy sea creature just swimming by to say hello!  She loves to play in peoples imaginary sea gardens.  This cute little mermaid is a bead woven art piece made from size 11 seed beads and measures 4 1/2 inches from the top of her head to the tip of her tail.  She has white and pink freshwater pearl accents in her amber and blue coral fringed hair. I listed her for sale on Etsy.com and will be bring her with me when I am vending at the Eugene Saturday Market in case you are dying to see her in person.  I learned about beading and sculptural peyote from a friend at the market seven years ago(had to think about that one).

Sculptural peyote has been one of my very favorite stitches since learning of it’s existance .  Then of course I learned how much fun it is to make fringe hair, and I was gone, baby gone!  I really just love all the stitches.  Those shiny little glass orbs just get my imagination flowing.  Sometimes faster than I can do things with the ideas or even write them down.   Well, that’s it for now.  Thanks for checking out my little Mermaid in Blue.  Bead On!

Hello All!  Just wanted to keep you up to date with my lastest listings on Etsy.  I have listed a new netted collar in white and amber.  It has little freshwater pearls on everyother point, and a glass flower clasp.  All my beaded creations are worked on a double strand of nylon thread conditioned with beeswax for generations of wearable joy!

I also listed my little peyote beads in primary colors.  They are a lot of fun to wear.  They can go on dreadlocks or over a braid.  The possibilities are endless.  If you would like a closer look at these items, or to purchase one of them, go to Etsy.com.  I am bead art by shari on that site and have many beautiful items for sale there.  Thanks for looking!

Etsy Bead weavers April Challenge Theme

Geposted am Sunday 1 March 2009

The theme for the April Etsy Bead weavers challenge has been chosen.  Mariya of BeadCatcher won the January/February challenge, and gets to choose the April challenge.  She has chosen the theme, Time Machine.  I will give you the quote for her challenge:

I guess everybody once in a while has had that thought “What if?” Yes, what if you were given a once in a life time chance to travel through time and space; to travel into past or future; to travel into a real or imagined world? Where would you go? What would you see there? Just think about it. Take the trip and share it with us in the form of beading art with its unlimited possibilities!

That sounds good Mariya.  Beads and beadweaving are like that, full of infinite possibilities.  This should be fun!  The challenge entries for the March challenge are rolling in, and wow!  Wowie, wow, wow!  If you want to have a look go to Etsy and search on EBWC.  The Etsy Beadweavers were truly tempted to create some amazing beadwork as usual.  It will be another difficult decision.

Challenge Winner

Geposted am Tuesday 17 February 2009

Hello All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Etsy Bead weavers challenge has been decided. The winner is Tropical Treasures by Mariya of BeadCatcher. Her gorgeous bead embroidery piece is stunning. I love everything about it, including the scuba diver and the jelly at the bottom. Her prize is to choose the next challenge theme. Good luck.

I am still trying to come up with my temptation piece for the March challenge. I just have a hard time deciding what to make. So many choices in the beads.  I can’t wait to see what we all come up with next!

Congratulations again to Mariya of BeadCatcher for winning the Etsy Bead weavers team challenge.  All of the beadweavers pieces, except for those already sold, are available for purchase at Etsy.com.  Just go to Etsy and search for EBW team.  You will see a current selection of bead weaver items for sale.

Voting is open!

That's me!

That's me!

Hey All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the voting for the Etsy Bead weavers Challenge “Tropical Holiday” is open now through February 15th. Visit http://etsy-beadweavers.blogspot.com/ to vote for your favorite bead woven work of art!

There are so many wonderful entries, it will be hard to choose just one. To view the entries in more detail go to Bead weavers blog front page and click the links under the mosaic. It will take you to each members Etsy shop to see different angles of the beadwork. I saw this morning that 454 votes have already been cast. How exciting!

It shows when a group of people love what they do. I think that is reflected in the Bead weavers group. We are all easily drawn into the creative flow the beads create around us. They allow us to weave them into art pieces from the most intricate and delicate webs to the most bold and dynamic sculptures. Everyone sees the beads differently and does different things with them.

Those differences shine through in this challenge. I had so many ideas for entering the challenge. I have an entire honeymoon’s worth of gorgeous photos taken by my loving husband to draw inspiration from when my memory wanes. And the thing that came through for me was wearing a fringed top and spinning on the beach. I have also been thinking of making a crocheted bead fringed top like the one Spinny Girl on the Beach is wearing for me!

Well, I hear my beads calling. Thank you all for your support of the Etsy Bead weavers Challenge. And good luck to everyone with the voting.

March Bead Weavers Challenge Theme

Geposted am Saturday 7 February 2009

Little red hearts

Little Red Hearts

It came to my inbox a little while ago.  The theme for the March Bead Weavers challenge is Temptation.  One of my temptations of course is anything in a bead, like these little red hearts I have to buy every year.

Karin of Gypsy Eyes Jewelry was the winner for December, and her prize is choosing the next theme for the challenge.  I will share Karin’s exact words with you.

This past weekend I was listening to some Tom Waits whilst sitting at my workbench….. beading, of course. The song “Temptation” came on. Temptation? Hmmmm…….

We could safely bead representations of our guilty pleasures perhaps: No more bon-bons on my lips and hips! Draping around my neck or dangling from my ears instead.

Or make something so beautifully bejeweled as to tempt all who lay eyes upon it.

Or we could give in to the temptation to attempt that great masterpiece that requires stepping out and trying something totally new to us.

I hope that the individual interpretation of the theme allows us to learn something new about each other and ourselves. Too deep? Okay, let’s just have fun with this!

Now I think that sounds like it could be fun! What do we think temptation in beads is?

I have been thinking of many fun ideas, but none have come off the needle yet.  All of the beads are just too tempting.  We will have to wait and see what develops.  After seeing all the entries for the January/February challenge, I can’t wait to see the March entries.

Have a wonderful day, and Bead On!
